General Information

BOCOUTURE is a medicine that contains the active substance Botulinum toxin type A which relaxes the injected muscles. BOCOUTURE is used for temporary improvement of upper facial lines in adults under 65 years of age when the severity of these lines has an important psychological impact for the patient.

A single injection of Bocouture might provide a patient with a durable result that, on average, lasts about six months. Moreover, it might be substantially prolonged by further treatments (or, in other words, periodical touch-up treatments).

Indications for Bocouture Injections

Lines between the eyebrows;
Wrinkles around the mouth (“smile” wrinkles);
Crow’s feet (mimic wrinkles around the eyes);
Hyperhidrosis;
Dystonia;
Cervical Dystonia.
The standard dosage of the Bocouture 100U is 20-24 units per procedure. The doctor calculates the amount of powder that is needed. The result after the procedure becomes visible in 5-7 days and lasts up to 4 months. The interval between the treatments should be not less than three months.

Contraindications of Bocouture:

Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.
Generalised disorders of muscle activity (e.g. myasthenia gravis, Lambert- Eaton syndrome).
Infection or inflammation at the proposed injection site.
Who should not use Bocouture?

The injection of Bocouture is not recommended for patients with a history of aspiration or dysphagia.
Patients suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
Patients with other diseases which result in peripheral neuromuscular dysfunction
In targeted muscles that display pronounced weakness or atrophy

Side Effects

Under normal circumstances, the administration of Bocouture (100 Units) does not initiate any serious adverse reactions. At the same time, however, it might lead to the appearance of the following side effects:

Temporary vasovagal reactions;

Increased muscle tenderness;

Pain in the injected muscles;

Headache;

Nausea;

Bruising at the treatment area;

Possible injury to the skin (including redness, itching, or swelling);

And so on.

Luckily, these unpleasant symptoms are temporary. They usually disappear on their own within a couple of days after the treatment and do not require any medical supervision.

On a side note: A patient should contact a healthcare practitioner as soon as possible in case of experiencing any serious side effects after the treatment in order to ask for professional medical advice.
